What people are saying about our steelpan sessions
It is amazing, honestly. It's my second week and I can play, like, two songs so far, and currently on my third.
At first I thought it would be difficult to get a song mastered, but I believe ‘Beautiful Barbados’ was done within a week's time. It was just pretty quick.
The exercises allowed me to build confidence and practice where the notes are. Every session I come, I start with the exercises and then transition into the music, so it's easier to remember.
It feels really good knowing that when I came here I couldn't play a song, and now I can play three songs.
I've never played steel pan before, and in four days or less I was playing a full song.
I like the fact that it's personalized, so you're able to go at a pace that suits you.
How you put together the music made it a lot easier. How you went through the technical part first allowed me to know how to do it. That made it easier for me and made me more comfortable.
With the short amount of time, I would not be expecting that you'll get so much in it. But it has exceeded my expectations. It was very enjoyable.
I thought that learning the songs would have taken longer than it did. Once we had the technique down, learning the songs was easy.
I love it. I am able to learn steelpan, which I've been wanting to do for a while. I've been able to learn a couple songs already, so that's good. The way the program is structured, it allows you to grasp the learning of the steelpan quicker.
Absolutely loving it. It's my happy place. It showed me that I actually can do something that I think is difficult, go into it and actually practice and get it done.
I don't have a very strong musical background. I can't read notes. I figured learning how to play and understand the technical side of playing steelpan was going to be really difficult, but it's actually not that bad, especially when you have a good teacher.
I've been focusing more on balance, and I found that it makes playing a bit easier. It's less tension I feel with the balance. I think that's actually the biggest thing for me.
